Attendance Stars

Student created stars hang from a tree mural denoting perfect attendance

Students with disabilities often harbor feelings of frustration and negative attitudes about school. This can have a tremendous effect on their desire to attend regularly. This can be further complicated by emotional disorders that include phobias and anxieties. We believe that overcoming this hurdle must include support from our program. Regular school attendance is an important step towards “Taking Control for Success in Life”.

Each 9 week grading period we host a special reward activity for students with perfect attendance. They design and display a star on our Attendance Tree in the main hallway. Students enjoy a snack and use a variety of stamps, markers, glitter, glue, and assorted other materials to individualize the star representing the attendance success.
